Treat

My mentor gathered a group of people and gave me and another intern a farewell treat. It was really nice of her. We had dim sum. Since I was nursing a sore throat and have been feeling sick these few days, I totally have no appettite. This is despite her asking me to eat and wanting me to order more. The food was delicious.

We had a chat along the way back and ya, that y I felt fortunate to have such a good mentor since the start of the attachment. :)

Ever since I was taught on tax computation last wed, each day seems good. At least, I go to the office each day knowing there are tasks for me to accomplish.

Today another senior wanted me to work on P&L, i heard some asked: "eh, thought the interns will not be taught on such things?"

Then I realised it was my mentor who recommeded that senior to let me work on the P&L, in order to prepare for other tax computation. My mentor then suddenly asked in concern, "You know how to do right?" and added, "Don't throw my face ar." I like this mentor of mine. She is definitely nice to get along. So patient with me. She trusts me and will try to keep me occupied with work and let me learn if she can.

Usually, interns working for less that 3 months will not be taught much. That what I have heard from others in the company. Thus, I am considered quite lucky to learn. My interest in tax was not much during the tax lessons. Now after knowing how to apply what I have learnt, I feel good. My interest is also getting stronger.

Hopefully, I will be able to walk through the whole process of computing the tax during the remainding 8 weeks.

Am enjoying my attachment now. Even though the learning stage is tough, it is rewarding when I manage to clear each hurdle at a time. Just completed a P&L computation today. It is very time consuming. Maybe I am slow and inexperienced. Coz I really could not reconcile those figures with the audit report. Somemore I still have to refer to several other reports if I am in doubt. Tomorrow also going to concentrate on this task. Think my mentor is thinking of teaching me to compute the whole tax computation. It is not easy. However, I am still looking forward to the process.

Well, one week of attachment passed. I am in the tax department while the others go to the audit department. Luckily, I have another SP intern to accompany me. Work is still all right. However, it seems that doing OT is a norm at my side. Well, till now, I have not do much OT and hopefully will not have to do any in the remaining 10 weeks.

I am tired.

Got posted to KPMG. One of the Big Four accounting firm. Anyway, was quite fated with this company. A few of my friends also got posted there. Some also quite near to Raffles, like City Hall and Tanjong Pagar.

This is a great week.

Yesterday went for the badminton IVP. By the time I saw their call for help, it was already 5.35pm. The whole match starting at 6pm and worst 2 matches were starting at the same time. Having a walkover in any competition is worst than losing. My teammates were trying to delay the match as late as possible. At the same time, I rushed all the way down to Simei ITE. Was glad that I turned up to help them. My match was high. Everyone was high. The crowd was cheering and at the same time, I was performing at my best. The best performance I had ever put up compared to those lousy matches in Nov. Anyway, I had told them my choice earlier on. Thus, when I turned up yesterday, they were more appreciative than anything.

Today, I manged to clear another great hurdle. I am seriously losing my energy on it. I am appreciative of how the girls accompanyed me during my wait. The laughter definitely relaxed my tensing mood. U girls know what? haha. While I was on my way there, despite Huiting asking me not to think of them. I could not help but suddenly thought of you guys and what you all had said during that period. A smile crept up and I was smiling to myself.

This January is a packed month for me.

Finally went over to JB after numerous number of planning. The weather was good. Hope the next KL trip will be successful though it is still too early to talk about it.

Glad that I went for it even though I only know like around 6 people out of the many people over there. It was great to be there. To chat with my -more than 2 years since I last saw them- friends. Not that there was no attempt for them to contact me. Just that the times chosen for playing badminton will always clash with my schedule.

The feeling was great because the person still remember you after so long. You are invited while some are not. Her effort has touched me. During JC, we only played badminton. Usually, I will not join them for dinner coz it is already late and I always have piles of tutorials undone. Once the last competition ended, we bade farewell and only said hi whenever we met along the corridors. We may not be close but I am already thankful for what I have. :)

Another celebration to come tomorrow. Busy!

Feeling so happy now. ha. cant pinpoint the event but just feeling happy from the bottom of my heart.

It is a new year and it feels great.

Celebrated the eve together with my cousin's wedding dinner. Atmosphere was great.
